Greetings Church Family,
Although I have had a bit of a crazy, hectic couple of weeks, I praise God for His continual, daily blessings that get me through and I hope that, this week, you feel His presence guide you over, around, under and through any obstacles that life may have thrown your way. I was moved this past Sabbath by the words of Paul that were shared in Pastor Dan’s message, “But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering,” (Phil. 2:17). I took the counsel to change my perspective to heart, and by the grace of God, this far in the week, my mind has dwelt on the blessings of my life. I am eager to hear the second instalment of Pastor Dan’s series, My Big Fat Mouth, and to see what practical morsels I will be able to take away and apply.
I truly hope that you are able to attend service this Sabbath. Refreshments will not be served after the worship service, but you won’t want to miss out on the scrumptious food served at our monthly Breakfast at Church, compliments of the Valencia Family. Join us for great food and fellowship from 9:00am-10:00am followed by Bible study in the Fireside Room. Bring your family and friends! Our Breakfast at Church days are also known as Take Them Home Sabbaths where we feed you for breakfast and then you feed visitors and friends for lunch. Plan now to invite someone home for lunch to share a meal, fellowship and blessings. And if you are unable to host some family and friends for lunch this weekend, our next Breakfast at Church/Take Them Home Sabbath is March 24. After a morning of feasting both physically and spiritually, we will then have the opportunity to rejoice in a baptism celebration at the 11:00 service.
Tax receipts for tithes and offerings for 2017 have been issued and placed in your church mailbox. For those of you without a mailbox, please see me on Sabbath to pick up your receipt. And if you are not able to come to church this Sabbath, I will mail the remaining receipts on Monday, February 19.
The Prayer and Encouragement ministries at RWCC are two very important aspects of Pastoral Care. If you are in need of prayer or would like to be added to the prayer chain, please email Donna Kutzner (wildon@albertacom.com). Likewise, if you are aware of anyone that is in need of encouragement, please contact Ona Marques (ona560@gmail.com) or Michelle Solheiro (michelle.sevcik31@gmail.com).
There are a couple of events on the horizon that I would like to bring to your attention.
Wynn Against Hunger, a new annual food drive that is a tribute to the late Constable Wynn and his generosity, will be supporting the St. Albert Food Bank by collecting donations from February 12-17. If you are able, please bring a non-perishable food item this Sabbath and deposit it in the box marked St. Albert Food Bank in the main entrance of the church.
Journey to Healthy Eating is offering a class on How to Cook Beans from Scratch. Come and learn how to prepare easy, forgiving, healthy and economical beans. Two popular cooking methods will be covered: stovetop and pressure cooker, preparing two of our most popular beans, chickpeas and black beans. These will be used to create some of the instructor’s favourite recipes. Class size is limited, allowing for a relaxed class with more camaraderie and everyone will leave with a full tummy. Class will be held Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 11am to 2pm in the Fellowship Hall. This class is free, however pre-registration is required. Donations are appreciated to help cover cost of food and instructor’s time. For more information contact Yvonne at 780-801-0872 or email yourj2h@gmail.com.
Until next week. . .
Blessings,
